I had a dream a few nights ago where quite a few royal guard members attempted to stage a military coup and failed.

After their capture and detainment, there were arguments among Shining and other high delegates, including his sister as to what to do as punishment for the attempted coup. Shining was enraged, and with Princess Celestia’s blessing, he was granted permission to do whatever he saw as a just punishment. 

Shining took the coup as an insult to both the ponies he served under, and himself. He could not i any right mind forgive the traitors for what they’ve done, and ordered to have them executed. There was quite a stir among his peers at the decision, others offering punishment alternatives that would keep the traitors alive. Shining wasn’t having any of it however, and decided to go about with his scheduled executions.
